| About Punk Aid
Punk Aid was
formed after a charity all dayer in Croydon in 1998. The response
we received in support of the idea of fundraising was good, and
so that led tot eh creation of Punk Aid. The organisation is run
by a small collection of musicians and people who are involved in
the industry. The idea of raising funds for charity is not new,
but raising funds to give direct to the causes is. Every amount
raised goes direct to the workplace and not into the bureaucratic
system that pays directors first and the cause last. Punk Aid also
exists to keep this scene lively and not allow it to become a money
making plaything for people don't care weather it 's alive or dead.
We all enjoy this scene, some from the start and those who are just
getting into it, but unless we control our scene now and nurture
the new bands, we will loose it.
Since it started, the support from bigger bands has been slow, but
has grown. We pride ourselves on having complete cheek and maintain
our moto "You don't ask, you don't get". We want to get
bigger and so enable us to get more charities on board, but as with
anything we need your support.
Here are just a few supporters who have and still support Punk Aid...
Captain Oi!
Trace Elliot
Mean Fiddler Organisation
The Stranglers
Greg Cowans (The Outcasts)
George Marshall (Pulped)
Anne Maria (Hardcore Street Sounds)
Paul Cook
...and all those who come to the events.
